Good afternoon! We have made it safe and sound to Oviedo and all of the students are placed with their respective host families. After an overnight flight, we had a smooth trip through customs & bussed 5 hours from Madrid to Oviedo, in which students accomplished an impressive amount of Spanish speaking! After meeting their host families today, they have been given the opportunity to rest and get to know better their host parents and siblings, as well as explore before tomorrow's adventures! Tomorrow they will take a Spanish placement exam, which will help them to see their progress from the beginning of the program to the end. Additionally, we will be giving them a tour of Oviedo. Then Saturday we will participate in a Community Engagement project, in which we will go clean up at the beach with local students. This is an adventure of a lifetime, and we instructors are so excited to be able to share it with your students. They have already shown an incredible resolve to problem solve & self-advocate, while putting themselves out there by risking making mistakes in their foreign language. They are already learning so much!
